REVIEW
Determine What Needs Attention
You’ve identified what you own and how it is currently held. Now it’s time to review that information and look for items that may need attention.
At this stage, your job is not to make changes. Your job is to compare, review, and identify questions.
Some assets may already be properly coordinated with your estate plan. Others may require additional review before you know what, if anything, should be changed.
WHAT TO REVIEW
Using your completed Master Asset Inventory™, look at each asset or account and consider:
- How is it currently owned?
- Is there a beneficiary designation?
- Does the current ownership appear consistent with your estate plan?
- Is additional information needed?
- Is there something you are unsure about?
- Does this item need further review before taking action?
You do not need to know all the answers.
The purpose of REVIEW is to identify the items that deserve a closer look, not to make legal or financial decisions on your own.
HOW TO REVIEW EACH ASSET
Compare the current ownership/beneficiary information from DISCOVER with what the estate plan indicates.
Then identify one of five results:
- No action currently identified,
- Ownership/registration action
- Beneficiary action
- More information needed,
- Professional guidance required.
Those are the exact outcomes established in our master system.
Your job is to identify the next step, not make changes yet.
