Now Review What You Found
DISCOVER identified the pieces. REVIEW determines what needs attention.
The goal is not to put everything into your trust. Different assets may use different ownership or beneficiary strategies.
Use your estate planning documents, funding instructions, and appropriate professional guidance when needed.
Review One Asset at a Time
For each asset or account, compare:
What you have now
with
What your estate plan or funding instructions indicate should happen
Then determine whether they appear to match.

Asset Review Worksheet™
Use this worksheet for each asset or account you review.
It helps you document:
- Current ownership and beneficiary information
- What instructions or information you have
- The intended result
- The current setup
- Whether the two appear to match
- Your REVIEW result
- Your next step and who has the next action
Your REVIEW Result
For each asset, your result should fall into one of these categories:
☐ NO ACTION IDENTIFIED
☐ ACTION IDENTIFIED
☐ MORE INFORMATION NEEDED
☐ PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE REQUIRED
☐ CORRECTION REQUIRED
When You Don't Know
Don't guess.
Document the question, identify who can answer it, and make getting that answer your next step.
If the question involves legal interpretation, taxes, investments, insurance, beneficiary decisions, ownership consequences, business agreements, jointly owned property, or another issue requiring professional judgment, stop and get the appropriate guidance.
STOP does not mean something is wrong. It means you reached a question that deserves the right answer.
